Description

Learn how to create, design, and coordinate special events such as conferences, exhibitions, flee markets, flower shows, farmer’s market, social events and entertainment purposes: Assessment is done by assignment. This is an extended piece of work (written report), which brings together the various skills and knowledge contained in each course and includes the actual planning, promotion and evaluation of a small event. The Event Planning and Promotions course is for learners who work in, or want to work in, any job role that may involve organising an event.

It gives learners the opportunity to:

  • develop knowledge related to the nature of the event industry and knowledge required to plan a small-scale event
  • develop skills in planning a successful event
  • learn about how to organise an event
  • develop personal growth and engagement in learning.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of the course participants should be able to:

  1. Demonstrate understanding of the aims of event planning
  2. Outline the main sectors in the events industry
  3. Investigate the scale and range of events
  4. Define aims and objectives of the chosen event
  5. Devise and implement feasibility study and business plan to meet event aims
  6. Explain the importance of health and safety in event planning
  7. Explain the importance of including security measures when planning an event
  8. Investigate effective promotional techniques for event
  9. Justify purpose of promotional materials used for event
  10. Explain the role of the brochure in promoting events
  11. Describe the reason for advertising when promoting events
  12. Demonstrate effective selling skills in event promotion
  13. Demonstrate the importance of personal contact
  14. Display appropriate dress code and event image
  15. Demonstrate application of the three ‘A’s
  16. Evaluate performance of the event according to plan
  17. Establish criteria for evaluation
  18. Devise resources to be used to undertake evaluation of event
  19. Analyse evaluation data
  20. Produce report on event performance
