Course Overview


This qualification is for experienced individuals who have completed a Level 5 degree qualification or are in their last year of study. It covers the requirements for developing the information, drawings and calculations for a solar photovoltaic installation.
This qualification enables you, the learner, to demonstrate and recognise your skills, knowledge and understanding of the area of study. You will be assessed a through testing and the production of a feasibility study based on a given proposed installation..

Mandatory Units

Unit 1: Photovoltaic Systems Design and Development

  • Understand the components that form a solar photovoltaic system
  • Understand the principles of photovoltaic technologies and their applications
  • Understand the requirements of a site survey
  • Interpret current legislation and associated information relevant to the design of photovoltaic systems
  • Understand how health and safety considerations and their application in the design of photovoltaic systems.
  • source and interpret the requirements for final connections of a photovoltaic source to an electrical grid.
  • Identify and apply the required methods for producing photovoltaic system designs
  • . Identify the appropriate methods for installing a photovoltaic design
  • Understand the contents and requirements of the testing, commissioning, documentation
  • Understand the contents and requirements of the operation and maintenance documentation
Unit 2: Photovoltaic Systems Design and Development
  • Understand the purpose and requirements of a photovoltaic system technical report.
  • Produce wiring and module layout diagrams to support a photovoltaic system technical report.
  • Produce a commercial feasibility study of a photovoltaic system.
  • Produce a photovoltaic system technical report.
  • Producing Photovoltaic Technical Reports and Feasibility Studies
Delivery:

The qualification is delivered via Instructor-Led live presentations.

Assessment

Assessment is by project and portfoio-based assignments.

Entry Requirement

    should have a Level 5 qualification, or be in their last year studying at Level 5,in a relevant area and/or
  • a minimum 2 years’ experience of energy or engineering related employment
  • In the last year of a degree from a university or college in chemical, mechanical, civil, electrical, or architectural engineering
